DC v. Heller Firing Blanks for NRA

Dick Heller outside the Supreme Court after the ruling

After the number of mass gun-related deaths i am happy to say that the New York Times has an excellent article about the impact, or lack thereof, of the decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, which was decided last year when the Supreme Court ruled for the first time that the Second Amendment “protects an individual right to own guns.  Since then, lower federal courts have decided more than 80 cases interpreting the decision.”   The article concludes that “So far, Heller is firing blanks.”  I must admit that this was my favorite quote from the article:

Professor Winkler summarized the impact of Heller in an article to be published in The U.C.L.A. Law Review in June. “So far,” he wrote, “the only real change from Heller is that gun owners have to pay higher legal fees to find out that they lose.”

I guess the NRA has money to burn.
